Lamp changes

I just got back from a SYLVANIA LED road show in Washington, DC. We were able to hear (see and ask about) all the exciting new LED products that SYLVANIA is rolling out this year. There is some really neat stuff to show our customers in the very near future. Hopefully we can host a contractor/end-user specific show when the product becomes available.

A couple things really hit home for me. One is that there are a lot of lighting options - LED is just one of them, and it's not the solution to every lighting challenge. And two, that the light bulb changes mandated by the government are coming up soon. We have some materials available for download on our website for your review:

Federal Legislation on light bulbs
The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) is phasing out some incandescent light bulbs and is requiring manufacturers to replace them with new, energy efficient bulbs that comply with EISA's mandated performance levels for incandescent and incandescent halogen bulbs.

The phase-out of the general service bulbs will begin January 1, 2012 starting with the 100W. The 75W will follow in 2013 and the 60W and 40W will follow in 2014. This means you will have to use more efficient lighting alternatives. Download an easy to understand chart outlining the changes from our website: http://www.dominionelectric.com/news.htm

Happy Birthday Thomas Edison!

I do really enjoy the Google Doodle. Besides being fun to look at, it keeps me up-to-date on important events. Like today, it reminded me it was Thomas Edison's birthday. Happy Birthday Thomas Edison! http://tinyurl.com/4jmx4x7

BGE Smart Energy Savers Program and NEMA PremiumTM motors

News in from the BGE Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM:

The Energy Independence and Security Act of 2007 (EISA) law mandates that NEMA PremiumTM efficiency motors become the standard as of December 19, 2010. Accordingly, BGE will no longer offer incentives for NEMA PremiumTM motors purchased after February 28, 2011. BGE will require that all Prescriptive Motor applications for motors purchased prior to the February deadline be received by BGE no later than April 30, 2011. For a copy of the Prescriptive Motor application, please click here.

Due to the upcoming deadline, the BGE Smart Energy Savers ProgramSM urges you to take advantage of motor incentives before the window is closed. As a reminder, motors purchased through February 28, 2011 may be placed in stock and have up to 6 months to be installed.
